What to Do in case you avoid studying
When we avoid studying it doesn’t feel good. Sure, in the short term it feels good to binge your favorite Netflix show, but in the back of your mind, there is an uncomfortable feeling knowing that you should be studying instead.
That little feeling builds up each time you avoid studying.
The result is a big emotional jumble making the tendency to avoid studying even stronger! When you feel bad about studying you want to avoid the topic altogether to avoid those uncomfortable feelings of guilt and shame. It’s a vicious pattern!
We need to break the pattern and take action.
Study for 15-min: Why This Strategy Works
You are more likely to do something that is easier than something more difficult. It’s not a deep insight. We know this. And yet we don’t always think to apply it for our own benefit.
In this case, 15-minutes of studying is much easier to power through than an hour, or 6 hours, or whatever you think you need to do. We just need to take a step in the right direction. Fifteen minutes doesn’t feel like a lot of work (’cause it isn’t).
Once you break the pattern, the next study session becomes easier. You feel better about studying knowing that you did something and took action. You’re someone who studied today. And that person can study again tomorrow! 🙂
