What to do if you are confused about what to study
- Gather all of your notes.
- Create two sets of notes from what you are starting with:
- One should be a list of short facts, dates, lists, and processes you need to memorize.
- The other should contain a list of concepts you need to master.
- Focus on one list at a time.
Why This Strategy Works
Sorting your study material helps you to see easily what to do next and eliminates confusion about how to study for a course.
For the memorization list, set aside 15 minutes every day to work on the list and apply the four steps to master memorization.
Take the concept list and decide how you can practice mastering the concept.
- Are there labs or exercises in your study material to complete?
- Can you create your own problems to solve?
This will vary more based on what the concept is, but having identified that there is a concept to master and asking yourself how to understand it better will give you something to try.
