Why You Lack motivation to Study
If you are procrastinating your studies and lack motivation to study, it is all driven by your thoughts. Most of these thoughts are unconscious. If they came into consciousness we wouldn’t choose to keep thinking them. But hiding in the background they persist.
If you want to stop procrastinating and find your motivation again, you have to move towards those thoughts. You have to feel whatever it is they make you feel. A feeling is uncomfortable, but can’t hurt you. You can feel it.
And after you feel it, the power is gone. Then you can get to work.
Why This Strategy Works
Procrastination is a protective action. It is how we avoid things we anticipate will make us feel bad. We avoid those bad feelings by avoiding whatever we think is going to cause them.
Truth is your paper, exam, or reading assignment can’t make you feel anything. If it could, we would all feel the same way about each assignment. But we don’t. Your thoughts about what the assignment means to you and what you think they say about you cause the feelings.
